Chuck Close was an American artist who made GIGANTIC photorealistic images of faces (he didn't like the call them portraits.) You had to stand across the gallery to understand the whole image. In his late 40s he a seizure which left him paralyzed from the neck down. He eventually found his way to a new style, with a brush strapped to his arm and with the help of a wheelchair and a lift, he continued to paint GIANT faces. Like the self portrait on the front of his shirt. I don't think i would have liked the guy much, but i love his work. My Chuck stands about 4 feet 6 inches tall.
